Product Description

Hardness:
Stainless steel pipes are commonly used for measuring Brinell hardness, Rockwell hardness, and Vickers hardness. Brinell hardness is the most widely used standard for stainless steel pipes, and the hardness of materials is often represented by the diameter of the indentation, which is both intuitive and convenient. However, it is not suitable for harder or thinner steel pipes.
Rockwell hardness:
The Rockwell hardness test for stainless steel pipes is the same as the Brinell hardness test. The difference is that it measures the depth of the indentation. Rockwell hardness testing is a widely used method, with HRC being second only to Brinell hardness HB in steel pipe standards. Rockwell hardness can be used to measure metal materials from extremely soft to extremely hard. It compensates for the Brinell method. It is simpler than the Brinell method and can directly read the hardness value from the scale of the hardness machine. However, due to its small indentation, the hardness value is not as accurate as the Brinell method.
Vickers hardness
The Vickers hardness test for stainless steel pipes is also an indentation test method used to measure the hardness of very thin metal materials and surface layers. It has the main advantages of the Brinell method and the Rockwell method, and overcomes their basic shortcomings, but it is not as simple as the Rockwell method. The Vickers method is rarely used for steel pipe standards.
Hardness testing
The inner diameter of stainless steel pipes is above 6.0mm, and the wall thickness of annealed stainless steel pipes is below 13mm. It can be a W-B75 Vickers hardness tester. It is very fast and simple to test, suitable for rapid and non-destructive testing of stainless steel pipes. Stainless steel pipes with an inner diameter greater than 30 mm and a wall thickness greater than 1.2 mm shall be tested using a Rockwell hardness tester to determine the hardness of HRB and HRC. Stainless steel pipes with an inner diameter greater than 30mm and a wall thickness less than 1.2mm shall be tested for HRT or HRN hardness using a surface Rockwell hardness tester. For stainless steel pipes with an inner diameter less than 0mm and greater than 4.8mm, the hardness of HR15T is tested by a specialized Rockwell hardness tester. When the inner diameter of a Stainless Steel Pipe is greater than 26mm, the hardness of the inner wall of the pipe can also be tested using Ro Galvanized steel pipe, Slotted Pipe, Casing, Tubing
