This specification covers many grades of nominal wall thickness stainless steel pipes for general corrosion resistance and high temperature services. Most of these grades are commonly referred to as the "straight chromium" type, which is characterized by ferromagnetism. Two of the grades TP410 and UNS S 41500 (Table 1) are suitable for hardening through heat treatment, while high chromium ferritic alloys are sensitive to notch brittleness when slowly cooled to room temperature. 1. Materials and Manufacture
1.1 The pipes shall be made from stainless steel material conforming to the chemical composition requirements specified in ASTM A312/A312M.
1.2 The pipes shall be manufactured by seamless or welded process, with the option of cold-worked or hot-finished.
1.3 The pipes shall be heat treated to achieve the desired mechanical properties, as specified in the applicable material standard.
2. Dimensions and Tolerances
2.1 The pipes shall be produced in accordance with the dimensional requirements specified in ASTM A312/A312M.
2.2 The wall thickness of the pipes shall be within the tolerances specified in the applicable material standard.
2.3 The outside diameter of the pipes shall be within the tolerances specified in the applicable material standard.
3. Mechanical Properties
3.1 The pipes shall conform to the mechanical properties specified in the applicable material standard.
3.2 Tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation requirements shall be met for each grade of Stainless Steel Pipe.
4. Testing and Inspection
4.1 The pipes shall be subjected to various tests and inspections to ensure conformance to the specified requirements.

5. Certification and Marking
